What is the difference between an elegator and a crocodile?

what is the difference between an elegator and a crocodile? their bodies look just the same. where are each of them found? please explain the difference between the two.

Alligators are native to North America (southern states like Florida); Crocs are native to South America, Africa, Australia. While there are some crocs in captivity here in the States in zoos and reptile centers.
