i need to connect my LCD tv and computer wireless? what are the options i can go for

i have heard about the sony playstation 3, xbox 360, and wii, they can be used for wireless connectivity other than the primary motive of gaming. have also heard that a router can be used for the same purpose which is cheaper as well but i dont know anything about the router and its cost and does it need an internet connection for the same. i m currently using reliance wi-max broandband connection.
