Can I make my own business cards as good as store bought?

I have an ink jet printer, if I get software and buy card stock will the quality be as good or is it pretty apparent I went the discount route?

But only one concern is that the business cards are printed in special, thick paper. Will it be supported by the printer?Maybe you have to cut it to your printer's tray size

I usually take prints of my business card in 18X12 poster size, I get around 24 business cards from this sheet. It costs around 25 rupees. I do the design in photoshop and give it in studio for printing.
